Still Alive at Five

Lunch N Thinc

Five years.  It really hadn’t dawned on me until I began seeing some of our members (former and current) celebrating being in business for five years as well.   I definitely share in their sentiments that time really does fly, and just the enormous amount of thankfulness for all of the support from clients, friends and family.   It is funny how five years can feel like an eternity and a drop in the bucket at the same time.  Either way, I’ll take it.

Walking around Savannah, it is not uncommon to see store signs that say “Established in 1984” or “Over Twenty Years in Business”, and it is so easy to assume that times were a lot easier back then or they were probably the only store in town.  But let’s be honest, their problems may have been different but they also persevered and have the stories and scars to prove it.  They made it through several cycles of good times and bad and still had the courage to come back for more.  So I have to give a big shout-out to all of the small business owners, entrepreneurs, freelancers and to anyone who simply made it work.

You have my respect for working hard just for a CHANCE to see what you could become.  Respect for the drive and sacrifices that you must make in order to go beyond what they thought was possible.  Respect for the courage to follow their passion.  Thanks for the inspiration, and here’s to another five years!
