On September 5,2013 ThincSavannah, in conjuction with Savannah’s Fashion Night, Connect Savannah, Kobo Gallery, and Foxy Loxy Café took over the corner of Barnard and Broughton. The evening was the perfect occasion to hightlight the artistic brilliance of several local artist.
What started as four empty plywood canvases were transformed into one of a kind custom art pieces right in front of our eyes. At 7:30 pm with a bumping bass line in the background, dj provided by Connect Savannah, the artist began their tag team descent onto blank canvases with the plan of rotating spaces every thirty minutes. Fifteen minutes into the live instillation the crowds began to gather and the bidding came underway.
Matt Herbermehl, best known for his organization SeeSAW (SeeSavannahArt Walls) where they paint murals in an effort to build stronger communities.
Cleonique Hilsaca a Senior at SCAD hails from Tegucigalpa, Honduras and is finishing her degree in graphic design and Illustration has worked on several projects around savannah including illustration for Back in the Day Bakery, Posters for the Revival Fest. She also has recently taken part in an exhibition showcasing artists from Honduras and Chile in Festilus 2013 which took place in Santiago, Chile.
Jose Ray is a muralist and illustrator who has organized several ARTPORT SHUFFLE’S throughout the area.
Andrew Brodhead is best know for his thought provoking photography but leant his hand to our painting project. His series of photos title Floating were inspired by the ever increasing amounts of plastics that he feels is taking over our environment. His portfolio is full of awesome shots.
The Event was a great success with all four paintings garnering impressive winning bids with earnings going to support the Artist.
